Nancy O'Dell started her career in the broadcast industry as reporter for WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She worked later as a morning news anchor at WCBD TV and acted as the crime reporter. The stories she reported in Charleston regarding the police's tolerance regarding DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to examine. It led to state authorities issuing more strict guidelines in these cases. Ms. O'Dell was recognized by the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year award for all media in South Carolina. O'Dell was then employed by NBC's Miami-based station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor.
